Small business ownership comes with many challenges, especially for members of the National Guard and Reserve components of the United States Armed Forces who often have to balance their civilian careers with their commitment to serve the nation.
Patriot Express Loans
The Patriot Express loan is offered by SBA’s network of participating lenders nationwide. Loans are available up to $500,000. The Patriot Express loan can be used for most business purposes, including start-up, expansion, equipment purchases, working capital, inventory or business-occupied real-estate purchases. Eligible military community members include: Veterans;
Service-disabled veterans; Active-duty service members eligible for the military’s Transition Assistance Program; Reservists and National Guard members; current spouses of any of the above; and the widowed spouse of a service member or veteran who died during service or of a service-connected disability.
Business Programs for Veterans & enterprise
As a service member or veteran you now have an opportunity to use your education benefits to learn how to start or enhance a small business. Entrepreneurship training allows eligible service members and veterans to use VA educational benefits to take courses offered by the Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs) or the National Veterans Business Development Corporation, better known as the "The Veterans Corporation."

Disabled Veterans Business Enterprise Network
"The Elite DVBE Network is an organization comprised of certified Disabled Veteran`s Business Enterprises (DVBE`s) whose headquarters is located in San Diego, CA. The Elite DVBE Network is incorporated as a 501(c)19 organization. Mission of The Elite DVBE Network: The purpose of the (DVBE) Network is to provide a forum where members meet to discuss the benefits of membership."
VA Business Programs for Veterans
The VA Center for Veterans Enterprise, a sub-division of the Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization, was created to make it easier for veterans to establish and expand their businesses. The Center was established by the Veterans Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development Act of 1999, and was officially dedicated February 14, 2001. The Center’s mission is to promote veterans’ business enterprises.
The Veterans Corporation
The National Veterans Business Development Corporation, doing business as The Veterans Corporation, is a Federally-chartered 501(c)(3) organization that was created by Public Law 106-50, the Veterans Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development Act of 1999. This Act recognized that America “has done too little to assist Veterans…in playing a greater role in the economy of the United States". The Corporation is charged with creating and enhancing entrepreneurial business opportunities for Veterans, including Service-Disabled Veterans. The Board of Directors is appointed by the President of the United States and provides governance over TVC. The President and CEO, Mr. Walter Blackwell, oversees the organization’s programs and day-to-day activities.
